Our designer silk scarves are designed with purpose, driven by values. House Of Gharats is a design house creating conscious luxury for artful dressing and living. We bring together style, substance and sustainability.
Founder-Designer Neishaa Gharat has made it her mission to change the world one scarf at a time. We are passionate about empowering women and girls, to shatter glass ceilings and help break the cycle of poverty. Neishaa believes design is a superpower with which we can make a difference to our world.
Our designer silk scarves are timeless pieces that can be passed down through the generations. Our silk scarf collection is designed in our house studio in London and crafted in Italy. We are a fan of family businesses just like ours, and endeavour to work with family-run production facilities who are equally passionate about keeping traditions alive and produce designer silk scarves to the highest quality standards, with fair working conditions.

Why House of Gharats?
Because of the human approach, the variety of social themes behind the design concepts, the story related to every single item. It is like the customer is involved in something bigger than purchasing a beautiful luxury object and with the story card they receive there is something physical to keep as a reminder.
Sustainability with a real impact on natural resources. The Sustainable Seacell Silk Scarf collection is a wonderful example of how raising awareness can lead to a real environmentally friendly production method.
The cultural interchange creates a unique environment where diverse ideas coexist together to create something new and unique but still keeping the cultural heritage.

The 3 things which mean to me?
The use of colours in the silk scarf designs seem to come alive with the essence of passion.
How the elegance of the silk scarf go hand in hand with sustainability.
The designs of India cultivated in many of the scarfs, embracing the customer in the rich history.

I very much like the concept of “ House of Gharats” I read the quote ” I have set myself on a mission to change the world one scarf at a time ” of Neishaa Gharat. My idea of art has always been “art can change the world “ so making art in what you are good at and passionate about what you do it’s the right direction to contribute on achieving this mission.
The web page is particularly detailed so u can find a lot of interesting and nice things which can inspire you and give you new ideas.

Made in Italy: I’m Italian, I know how valuable the craft sector is in my country. I know the role that craft played in post-war Italian design, one of the most celebrated design episodes in the twentieth century. We have always been guaranteeing high quality standards.
Design is a superpower: It is the most powerful way of communicating ideas that we have. Being conscious of the infinite ways design shapes our world will expand what we as designers think our work can be.
Sustainability: meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs is something I truly care about.

Why House of Gharats, point 3 things on the website that mean something to you ?
1. I really admire House of Gharats’ use of innovative sustainable materials i.e. seacell as materials being developed now are ultimately the foundation for the future of the fashion industry and your brand is fronting this movement.
2. The print design of your products on the website are beautiful and intricate – I think especially now following such a disastrous year, I look to fashion to brighten my day and your designs definitely do that. I think the prints and colours that you use are also proving to customers that sustainable can be fashionable!
3. ‘The Wishing Net’ also really struck a chord with me as I, too, believe art and fashion etc. is the best way to communicate the need for sustainability because of the symbolism, irony and inspiration it is so good at portraying. I use all recycled materials in my artwork to really convey this message and so loved this concept as I think it really gets people to stop, look and listen.

– Turning the unconventional into the norm, the seashell collection breaks traditional concepts into new possibilities with how we see raw materials. This is something I want to contribute to.
– Design is a superpower! How can that become a reality? I take this bold and ambitious statement with a sense of optimism. Using Victor Papanek as inspiration to make design a superpower. He mentions, “The only important thing about design is how it relates to people.” I already see how House Of Gharats considers this.
– Fair Working conditions. I believe products come from good manufacturing, therefore, the designers role is to value the the process of human labour with ethical measures and good design thinking.

I knew I wanted to work with you as soon as I saw your website.
The uniqueness of your pieces, the originality of your designs caught my attention. I think you have a very particular point of view and unique storytelling.
I especially loved the detail and the attention paid to craftsmanship. Taking inspiration from the past to make modern, elegant pieces of wearable art.
My favourite part is probably your commitment with sustainability. I truly believe in the necessity to go back to what fashion was before fast fashion took over the market. Fashion should be kind to the environment, get inspired and evolve from nature, not harm it.
I think the value of one-of-a-kind pieces that we identify ourselves with, taking good care of and keeping them for years, are one of the best ways fashion could go back to being sustainable. Less is more.

3 things from the House of Gharats website that mean something to you are:
1. The fact that House of Gharats cares about our planet by trying to protect it through spreading awareness of the global pollution crisis, using sustainable materials and promoting a global Blue Economy.
2. Another inspiring thing is that the Company’s designs are influenced by heritage and traditions from various countries through the use of original materials and creative tailoring.
3. The next thing that I find fascinating about the Company is that every collection has a story behind it, such as the Earth Song Collection showing human’s relation to our planet, or a completely different theme of the Royal Hoof! Queen’s Horses Collection, which is inspired by Her Majesty and her love for horses. The stories are incredibly well expressed in all pieces of the collections, especially due to the designs being made with extreme attention to detail.

The 3 aspects of your website that mean the most to me are;
– I appreciate that each page of the website seems to begin with a story or journey, each collection has meaning and is an important aspect of the fashion house, and because of this you really do become emotionally invested with each collection. I love nothing more than integrating personal experiences within my own work.
– I am fascinated with House of Gharats focus on the integration and celebration of different cultures, it is important to me that all cultures are free to embellish and to be proud of their traditions but to also be able to work amongst and with other cultures to create beautiful spectacles.
– The House of Gharats website inspires aspects of fine art and abstract crafts which awakens my senses and, it is refreshing to see a website where the creator has been conscious of colour, design, aesthetic and interactivity which has become a project in itself. I love that the Royal Hoof! Queen’s Horses Collection presents incomplete designs of the collection, showing the design process. It is valuable to see not just the polished product, but also the hard work that goes into the production. The website is very welcoming to artists of all disciplines and I believe it would stimulate creativity in many other people.
