Honoured to see Sharon Evans wear a House of Gharats at 16th annual ‘Bravest Women Awards’ in London

This year Best Magazine celebrated their 16th annual ‘Bravest Women Awards’ in London!

The awards recognise and celebrate the courage of women who have faced some of the biggest challenges imaginable. QVC’s beauty team was so touched by the stories of these incredible women that we wanted to show our support to the awards in any way we could.

It seems such a small gesture when you read what these amazing women have faced, but we teamed up with some of our wonderful beauty brands including bareMinerals, Ego and Nails Inc to provide pampering sessions before the event, as well as fab goodie bags for some ‘me time’ at home afterwards.

As published in Q Community

Edwina Evans (above, second from left) is 94 and trained as a nurse at Westminster Hospital in the late 1930’s. Edwina was one of the first nurses to land on the Normandy beaches in June 1944. During World War II she was forced to sleep in filthy trenches due to the hospital tents being bombed at night. After retiring in 1983 Edwina devoted herself to charity work, and was awarded MBE in 1998.

Gina Shaw (above, far right) is a former children’s nurse who was diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s last year. Gina is now devoting her time to raising as much awareness as possible for Dementia Friends: you may see Gina in their ad campaign on television with the likes of Coldplay’s Chris Martin, presenters Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes and singer Lily Allen. Over 850,000 people in Britain have dementia and Gina has bravely turned her challenges into a positive!

We have only highlighted two of the stories in this blog, please take take a look the Best Bravest Women page to find out more, including Sharon Evans’ (above, right) traumatic experiences as a child, and how she is giving back to future generations in the most incredible way.

We salute these women, it’s literally life-changing reading!
