Neishaa Gharat was shortlisted for the Asian Women of Achievement Award in Arts & Culture, an honour acknowledging her role as the founder and designer of House of Gharats and for her work in promoting art, crafts, and textiles.

A celebration of twosomes, the Asian Power Couples Hot 100 honour is truly a win-win situation.

Praising the United Kingdom’s most influential and innovative Asian couples, the definitive list “reveals not only the names of the rich, powerful, authoritative and philanthropic, but also the industries that create the greatest number of such pairings – the restaurant and food sector, creative industries and business arena.”

In addition to these designated divisions, the organization also names promising pairs to look out for in the upcoming year. In 2014, following the launch of House of Gharats, Neishaa Gharat and her husband Pretam – a successful dental surgeon – were named among these “top 5 couples to watch in 2015.” One busy year later, the Gharats continue their stimulating work, as they plan and prepare for an exciting 2016.

Neishaa and Pretam Gharat attended the Silk Ball, a fanciful fashion affair presented by the luxurious Hermès label, set in London’s historic KOKO venue.

A fanciful fête, the ball requested a dress code fit for a fairytale: “beauty & the beast masks and headdresses; silk scarves; fantastical make up.”  The imaginative Gharats metamorphosed into the beauty and the beast to be snapped by the acclaimed fashion writer Susie Lau. A whimsical celebration of silk scarves – an iconic Hermès classic and a House of Gharats staple – and fusing fashion with fantasy, the extravagant event was nothing short of a midsummer night’s dream.

Created by the World Consulting & Research Corporation, “The Global Indian Excellence Summit & Awards” debuted on 21 July 2014 at London’s Grosvenor Square Hotel.

Based on ‘Lead the Change,’ a theme referencing India’s transforming identity and emergence as a superpower on a global stage, the ceremony celebrated Indians who excel in business, politics, entertainment (music & films), sports, philanthropy, arts, and literature.

At this inaugural event, Neishaa Gharat was awarded the Global Indian Excellence award – an honour commemorating the excellence and success of Indian achievers and role models – by Lord Swaraj Paul and Abhimanyu Ghosh.

The awards would be an eclectic blend of panel discussions, meritorious honours for brands and individuals, and a gala dinner. It aims to be a platform for like-minded people to connect with each other and take back the top leadership qualities to implement in their respective style of functioning.”

ÖÖ – meaning ‘night’ in Estonian – was launched in 2010 at the London Design Festival. A curated cultural and social experience, ÖÖ is focused on sustainability and gathers Nordic design visionaries to showcase their innovative works across a wide range of disciplines.

In 2012, ÖÖ participated in the World Design Capital Helsinki Programme. Presenting art and design of the region through a diverse lineup of talks and events, it was aptly themed ‘Authentic Luxury: Telling the New Nordic Story.’

To commemorate the recent success of the Nordic-India partnership, Neishaa Gharat was invited to present ‘Share Your Dreams – India: Culture of Opportunities,’ at the exciting event. Additionally, Neishaa facilitated a collaboration with Siggi Odds and Harpa Run Olafsdottir, two Finnish artists, for 100%, an Indian visual arts zine. Featuring the work of contemporary designers and artists, each issue revolves around a single, specific theme, prompting artists from different backgrounds to come together – and, fittingly, reflecting the diversity of Helsinki.
