When exploring The House of Gharats website I was immediately drawn to the story of interweaving cultures and social identities which creates an artwork of strong and powerful meaning. The juxtaposition of past, present and future produce a rich embodiment of generational identity and cultivate an overall ethos of inclusivity and community. This provides me with a story not only of how House of Gharats creates individual pieces, but also the understanding of how they became an idea in the first place. Personally, I find this process immensely interesting, and it shows the passion which is encapsulated in every design.
Secondly, the quote “the love of living an artful life with purpose” gave me much food for thought and I believe it beautifully but simply sums up the feeling many creatives have. I personally find great meaning in the work I produce, it allows me to express my feelings, while also allowing my mind to be free of external thought. House of Gharats follow this mantra by consistently developing work with exciting modernity and a strong essence of tradition. The results clearly express the love which the designs have been created with.
House of Gharats focus on the use of sustainable materials and processes which is something that aligns with my personal views. The recent collaboration with Seacell, who create sustainable fabrics using seaweed, demonstrates House of Gharats development of innovative design. This focus on environmental impact reduction shows clear foresight for an exciting future. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with designs who share my passion and desire for a greener world.

The future of fashion is without a doubt sustainable design. It's common knowledge that the fashion industry is the 2nd leading worldwide polluter, however people will never not consume fashion so it's important that we slow fashion down and allow people to buy pieces that they hold so much value in, that they will want to keep it forever, and I think House of Gharats is doing this already. The future of retail, I think a lot of people will say it's online which I think is only partly true. Yes it will have a dominant online presence, it already does, but I think the physical act of shopping will never die out. It's a leisure activity, it's what you do when you go to a new place, it's a day out with friends when you get lunch after. People enjoy shopping, touching the pieces and seeing them in real life, the only difference between now and future retail stores is that we'll see much more independent stores on our highstreets rather than department stores and current high street shops. They'll be much more immersive and exciting than what we currently have on our highstreets, hence the reason the trade there is dying. Style from my point of view is wearing something that you feel most comfortable yet powerful in. For some people this might be when they wear a fitted dress and heels, or for others it's when they wear loose clothing and trainers. As long as when you get dressed in the morning and you leave the house and feel powerful doing so in what you wear, this is style to me.

Three things that mean something to me from the website is the emphasis on ethical manufacturing, this is so key now more than ever and is absolutely the future of fashion. Another thing is the celebration of cultures and the way it's been integrated into wearable art pieces. The final thing being the scarves themselves, we deserve to wear things that have such beauty to them and have clearly been thoughtfully designed using hand craft techniques that give the pieces a real luxury, bespoke aesthetic.

First, I love all aspects of print and printmaking and House of Gharats epitomises beautiful, expressive, contemporary print design. Second, eclectic designs explore interesting ideas and tell compelling stories from around the world. These are artfully expressed in the illustrated narrative on each piece’s webpage. Third, not only is House of Gharats making the world a more beautiful place, but it is also making a better world with its social and environmental actions.

The future of Fashion is the research and use of recycled materials, but with an eye to old techniques.

The future of retail will be based on online, where physical stores will be points of experience, especially for some "artistic" brands.

Style from my point of view means leave a sign forever.

Firstly, I love the idea of keeping traditions alive. While at the same time blending these ideas into the new and modern settings of the world we live in today. There are so many instances where traditions have been lost through gentrification and other world developments, finding the essences of what brought us to where we are now, nodding to history and the ancestral art forms, is where we can find meaning in the plasticity of life.

Secondly, I value craftsmanship. There are too many things that exist today that have lost its human touch. Keeping the process of production within family-run businesses, and manufacturers that value human labor and respect the environment through consciously adjusting the way things are made.

Thirdly, I love how a story can be told, and make a difference, on such a small piece of fabric. Whether it be to keep traditions alive or to bring awareness to important topics within environmentalism and politics. I like this form of "the wearable message" because you can directly impact someone through consumerism. (Ironic isn't it)

Why House of Gharats, point 3 things on the website that mean something to you?
-The designs have meaning behind them, there is a story within each piece.
-Inspiration- each piece celebrates and take inspiration from culture and heritage to create beautiful stories within textiles.
-Illustration and design - each scarf design displays high quality illustrations that are timeless and can be enjoyed across different generations.
